Dreadlocks on the rocks

Hello there!

Feeling a bit confused by all the drinking and food references when this is supposed to be a page about dreadlocks? Yeah, me too but don’t let that get in your way

What I do

So, let’s cut straight to the point. I make dreadlocks. I also maintain and undo dreadlocks. Soon I’ll also be providing people with dreadlock accessories like beads and headbands….eeeverything you would ever want or need.

Where I do it

I am based in Birmingham, UK so if you’re somewhere in the Midlands thinking “Hmm…I feel I should get my hair tangled today” then you most definitely should call or e-mail me since apparently we have a common interest

The method to my madness

If you’ve done your research on dreadlocks, you probably know that they are awesome things to have, they’re not high maintenance, they don’t pee on the rug and they don’t keep you up at night…hell, I’d pick dreadlocks over a hamster any day. Of course, if you have a hamster, you can still get dreadlocks.

The method I use for making dreadlocks is fairly simple: I back-comb the hair until it looks like a hairy sausage and then I pull in the leftover fuzz using a crochet needle, thus making you the proud owner of a lovely set of dreadlocks. I know…it sounds simple, and it really is. It just takes a long time since I do not use wax or any other products during the process. All I ask is that the hair be washed the day before the dreading without using any conditioner. Oh…and your hair needs to be longer than 4 inches. That’s about it really, not complicated at all

The tricky part

As much as I would want everyone to get dreadlocks and be happy for free, a dreadlock making robot has yet to be invented so in the meantime I have to stand up for 8-12 hrs or even more backcombing and crocheting hair for the dreadlocks to look nice.

So, without further ado, here is my price list

Dreadlocks from scratch – £100 – £ 130 (depending on hair length)

Maintenance – £50 – £70 (depending on length)

Dreadlock removal – £100 – £120 (depending on length)

Phew, now that that’s out of the way…

I try to make the locking experience as enjoyable for everyone so when you come by feel free to bring a friend with you, DVD’s, beer, ponies, anything that would help you relax while I pull at your hair (prior notice would be appreciated for the ponies).
